When you run your own business, your desk isn't just a piece of furniture. It's where customer emails are answered, orders are processed, stock is managed and new ideas come to life.
As the owner of Barks & Bunnies, I spend a significant part of my day at a computer. Like many small business owners, I wanted a workspace that would encourage me to move more throughout the day rather than remain seated for hours at a time while I add new products to our store, write our handwritten notes or create blogs like this one
After researching a range of sit-stand desks, we chose the FlexiSpot E7 Pro 2026, and after assembling and using it for several weeks, I wanted to share my honest experience from the perspective of a small business owner rather than a professional reviewer.
One of our biggest challenges was space.
We specifically needed a 1200mm wide standing desk, which ruled out many alternatives. Finding a standing desk for a small home office that still felt sturdy and professional proved more difficult than expected.
Running a small business means balancing practicality, quality, and budget. I wasn't looking for the most expensive desk available. I wanted something that would fit comfortably in a compact workspace and stand up to daily use.
The FlexiSpot E7 Pro seemed to offer exactly that.
We chose the Maple desktop, and the quality immediately exceeded our expectations as it was one of the lower cost options. There were other solid wood options available but they were out of stock at the time
Although it's a particle board top, it feels durable, looks professional, and has a higher-quality finish than I was expecting.
Another pleasant surprise was the number of pre-drilled holes already included in the desktop for mounting the frame and legs. There were more holes than required for the E7 Pro itself, which suggests FlexiSpot uses the same desktop across multiple desk models.
It took a few extra minutes to identify the correct mounting points, but assembly was still straightforward.
Overall, the FlexiSpot E7 Pro assembly process was much easier than expected. It took around 40 minutes in total and is provided with the tools to build it, although we did use some of our own as it felt a little easier.
The instructions were mostly clear, the frame components aligned well, and the pre-drilled holes simplified most of the build.
If you'd like to see the build process in action, we've also created a short time-lapse video showing the desk being assembled from start to finish.
The only area where there were no pre-drilled holes was for the under-desk cable management tray. I needed to measure the position, mark the fixing points, and create starter holes using the supplied screws. It wasn't difficult, but it was the one part of the build that required a little more care and attention.
There were several design touches that stood out.
The control panel can be mounted on either the left or right side of the desk using pre-drilled holes, making it easy to position wherever feels most comfortable.
We also really liked the magnetic fabric cover underneath the desk. This neatly hides the main electronics and wiring, helping keep the underside of the desk tidy while still allowing easy access when needed.
The desk itself feels extremely solid and stable. Height adjustments are smooth, operation is quiet and the overall build quality inspires confidence.
If there was one area where we'd like to see an improvement, it would be cable management.
While the magnetic cover does a great job of concealing the central electronics, there isn't a dedicated solution for routing the cable between the control panel and the electronics unit beneath the desk.
As a result, the cable can hang down unless you supply your own clips or cable management accessories
We also felt the FlexiSpot branding on the fabric cover was a little more prominent than necessary. It's not something you'll notice in most office setups, but if the underside of the desk is visible, the branding does stand out quite noticeably.
Both are relatively minor observations rather than major criticisms.
As a small business owner, a desk quickly becomes the centre of your working day.
Between updating my store, processing orders, responding to customers, and managing stock, it's not unusual to spend hours at a computer.
This is where the E7 Pro really shines.
The ability to easily switch between sitting and standing has encouraged me to move more throughout the day and has made long periods of desk work feel less sedentary.
Most importantly, the desk simply disappears into the background and lets you get on with your work, which is probably the highest compliment I can give it.
The FlexiSpot E7 Pro 2026 has exceeded our expectations.
The desktop quality is excellent, assembly was straightforward and the finished desk feels sturdy, professional, and well designed.
Would I make a couple of small improvements? Yes. Better cable routing from the control panel to the central electronics unit and slightly more subtle branding would make an already good product even better. However, these are minor points in what has otherwise been a very positive ownership experience
If you're looking for a standing desk for a home office, a height-adjustable desk for a small business, or a 1200mm wide standing desk for a compact workspace, the FlexiSpot E7 Pro is certainly worth considering.
Is the FlexiSpot E7 Pro easy to assemble?
Yes. Most of the assembly process is straightforward thanks to the pre-drilled mounting holes. The only part that required additional measuring was fitting the cable management tray.
Is the FlexiSpot E7 Pro stable?
So far, the desk feels exceptionally solid and stable during both sitting and standing use.
Can you buy the FlexiSpot E7 Pro with a 1200mm wide desktop?
Yes. This was one of the main reasons we chose it, as it made the desk suitable for a relatively compact home office.
Is the maple desktop good quality?
Yes. The maple desktop exceeded our expectations and feels much more premium than we anticipated
Is the FlexiSpot E7 Pro suitable for a small home office?
Absolutely. If space is limited, the 1200mm wide option offers a great balance between workspace and footprint.
